London Schools and the Black Child Academic Achievement Awards 2013

The eighth annual London Schools and the Black Child Academic Achievement Awards took place on 3rd October 2013 at the House of Commons. 

This year we received more nominations than ever before and the standard was incredibly high. All of our GCSE students had 8A*’s and over; our A Level students no less than all A’s; and our university students no less than a first class degree. In addition their many other achievements, dedication to helping their wider community and some of the personal challenges that some have faced are a testament to their fine characters.

A star-studded line-up of presenters included Sol Campbell ex - Tottenham and England footballer, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt. Hon. John Bercow MP, Chuka Ummuna MP, playwright and novelist, Dr Bonnie Greer OBE, the first black CEO of a FTSE 100 Company Tidjane Thiam, CEO of Prudential, model and singer VV Brown, Tom Shropshire, Senior Partner Linklaters LLP, Malorie Blackman OBE, author and current Children’s Laureate, Guardian journalist Hugh Muir, comedian and actor, Eddie Kadi, Big Brother presenter, AJ Odudu, Trevor Faure, Senior Partner, Ernst and Young Global, Rose Hudson-Wilson the House of Commons Chaplin and comedian Stephen K Amos.
